The Guardian visited Kayz Consortium's Abuja factory and Karu warehouse, reporting over 26,000 meters held in stock without patronage while the company exported to Rwanda and Uganda. Chairman Prince Kalu Ikpemini said the company was using the AfCFTA to bypass government bottlenecks in metering, called for a level playing field for local manufacturers, and said bridging the five-million metering gap should not be difficult if local manufacturers are patronised.
