Case study: a Nigerian IPP, Ogun State – proposed on-grid power generation project
INTERSTE advises a Nigerian independent power producer (IPP) on the licensing of a proposed on-grid power plant in Ogun State. Engaged since July 2026.

We assist project sponsors, generators and investors with project coordination, regulatory and licensing support, and engagement with Nigerian electricity-sector institutions for generation and distribution projects.
Licensing and approvals
For generation projects, we help plan and coordinate the licensing and approvals pathway, working with qualified Nigerian legal and technical advisers:
- NERC licence applications and post-licence compliance
- Environmental and social impact assessment
- Power evacuation and load studies for the Nigerian Independent System Operator (NISO)
- Grid connection agreements with the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN)
- Market participant registration with NISO
- Power purchase and fuel supply agreements
- Business plans for licence applications
- NEMSA inspection and certification of installations
